About this event
The College of Design welcomes Sara Hendren, a designer, writer, and artist who makes work about disability, ranging from experimental works like a dramatic stage set for a wheelchair dance company to the "updated" version of the Accessible Icon .
A student-focused discussion of Sara's book What Can a Body Do? How We Meet the Built World will be held in Allred Gallery on Nov 17 at 1:30 pm. The first 20 to RSVP will receive a copy of her book. You do not have to read the whole book to attend, but it is recommended to read at least one chapter.
In addition, Sara will be giving a keynote talk at the Office of Equal Opportunity forum (with lunch served!) at 12 on that day - sign up here .
Sara Hendren is a distinguished writer, design researcher and filmmaker, renowned for her pioneering work reimagining how the human body interacts with technology. By challenging conventional ideas around dependence, independence and innovation, she invites us to view accessibility not as an afterthought, but as a core element of human-centered design.
